Meet Kerry: The Heart Behind Morningstar
In June 2019, Kerry and her husband Halo opened the doors to Tattoo Morningstar, watching it grow from strength to strength ever since. Before taking the helm of the studio, Kerry spent nearly 20 years mastering the barbering industry. That creative itch never truly left; you will still occasionally find her cutting hair right from the front of the studio or helping out at local shops. Kerry is an engine of community spirit in Weymouth. Whether she is collaborating with the local BID to build interactive half-term trails for families or juggling her next big side project, her focus is always on making our town a better place. Unconditionally dedicated to the studio, Kerry leads from the front line—embracing a hands-on, ego-free approach that keeps the shop feeling like family.

Meet Halo: A UK Tattoo TrailblazerHalo isn't just Weymouth’s most experienced artist—he is a foundational piece of UK tattoo history. Over 30 years ago, he became the very first tattooist in the country to open a high-street studio, a revolutionary move that brought tattooing into the mainstream. Twenty of those years have been spent right here in Weymouth, watching the technology, styles, and methods evolve. Halo’s deep medical background makes him uniquely elite; he is a master of advanced body modification and piercing. He actively trains our in-house piercing team to ensure they are the best in Dorset, and local environmental health officers even rely on his medical expertise for their own training. Ren took a wonderfully unique path to become an indispensable member of the Tattoo Morningstar family. For years, he shaped young minds as a teacher in our local Weymouth schools, while honing a sharp eye for detail as a passionate model maker. Seven years ago, he stepped into our studio to help manage the weekend desk—and the rest is history. Ren completely fell in love with the trade, committing his life to custom tattooing inside our sterile, high-standard space. If you are looking for an artist who shares your passion for Star Wars, Pokémon, or epic nerd culture, Ren is your man. Infusing the studio with a fun-loving spirit, a deep dedication to all forms of art, and a proud touch of pirate and viking energy, he turns every session into an absolute blast.

Sian’s introduction to Tattoo Morningstar is one of our favorite stories—mainly because she never actually applied to work here! Sian originally came into the studio as a regular customer. Kerry was so blown away by her sharp attention to detail and natural professionalism that she approached Sian with a job offer, despite Sian already holding a steady career within the NHS. A week later, Sian made the leap, and we haven't looked back since. Now running our front desk and handling our specialized body piercings, Sian applies her strict healthcare-industry discipline to everything she does.
