Best advice is to stay relaxed, I know it's harder said than done but the more you tense the more it will hurt. Your body does naturally numb itself after a while, first few strokes are the most painful. We have inserted to the right an image of the most and least painful places to get a tattoo. But bear in mind everyone is different no one is the exact same.
The simple answer is no, drinking or taking any drugs before a tattoo, these thin your blood and it makes it harder for the ink to get into your skin. also, it effects your bodies healing abilities. Your tattoo artist has every right to refuse service to you.
Once you have had your tattoo the artist will wrap the fresh ink in dermalize, this should be kept on for at least 5 days, within the 5 days you will notice some of the ink come out this is just the plasma leaving your skin it will absorb back into your body to help the healing process. If the dermalize does come off before the 5 days, wash it with warm soapy water and keep it moist, we suggest using Butterluxe tattoo soap and balm, we do stock this in the studio and all the staff here use it and highly recommend it. The Butterluxe helps keep the tattoo bright for years to come, it also helps the tattoo from scabbing and going dry.
